Job Opportunity - Associate Director of Child & Youth Ministry
St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, Port Washington, WI
Do you enjoy working with children/youth? Are you a practicing Catholic who would welcome the opportunity to help form children/youth and their families in their Catholic faith? Then this job may be the perfect fit for you!
The Associate Director of Child & Youth Ministry assists the Director of Child & Youth Ministry in the visioning and day-to-day planning and implementation of a ministry that serves the spiritual and faith formation needs of our children/youth and their families. In particular, this person will focus on our Child Ministry, including faith formation, First Reconciliation and Eucharist preparation, outreach to parents of pre-school-aged children, and faithful play, and other creative ways to share the love of Christ with our children and their families.
The person who assumes this role should be dynamic, collaborative, excited to work with a team, creative, readily willing to try new things, and above all, should exemplify a love of Christ and His Church. He/she should also be well-organized and able to simultaneously manage multiple projects, utilizing the tools at his/her disposal while reaching out for help as needed and engaging in ongoing professional development.
Along with the Director, the Associate Director is responsible for recruiting, training, and mentoring adult volunteers/catechists as well as working with support staff. Although evening and weekend hours are required, work schedule flexibility is afforded to enable a healthy professional/personal life balance. Ideally, candidates interested in this position will either have or be working toward a Bachelor’s degree in theology, religious education, and/or early childhood/elementary education, but we are open to training someone who may lack this background and yet has the potential to be successful.
