Be Christ Inspired - Joyfully Live Our Call

Lent 2023

Basic Lenten Regulations

  • Fasting: On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday those who are 18 years old and not yet 60 are allowed only one full meal.
  • Abstinence From Meat: Those who are 14 years of age or older are to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all other Fridays of Lent.

These regulations simply highlight Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and other Fridays of Lent. The more fundamental obligation is to make Lent a penitential season with Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving, practices that need to be adapted to one’s own circumstances.
